Queers on Campus - LGBTQ+ groups at the University of Alberta

In my second year of university, I joined OUTreach, the University of Alberta’s LGBTQ+ student group. For the first time, I had a large network of queer peers and felt absolutely normal.

When the Edmonton City as Museum Project put out a call for submissions for local histories, I knew exactly which story I wanted to write first: a history of the LGBTQ+ groups at the U of A. They fought to create a safe and inclusive campus, and I am honoured to pay my respects to them by passing down their stories.
