G7 and G20 Research Groups

Throughout my Master of Global Affairs degree at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, I worked as a Compliance Analyst for both the G7 and G20 Research Groups. These groups are frequently cited in publications like The Economist, the New York Times, and BBC News for the high standard of their research.

As a Compliance Analyst, I researched the actions that specific G7 and G20 members had taken to fulfill the commitments they’d made at recent summits—in a nutshell, I looked at whether or not they were putting their money where their mouth was. I then assigned them a score of either -1 (no compliance), 0 (partial compliance), or +1 (full compliance).

Following the 2016 Ise-Shima G7 Summit in Japan, I looked at France’s actions on food and agriculture policy and the United Kingdom’s actions on counterterrorism.

Following the 2017 Taormina G7 Summit in Italy, I looked at France’s actions on trade and its commitment to fight against protectionism.

Following the 2017 Hamburg G20 Summit in Germany, I looked at Australia’s and the European Union’s actions on strengthening health systems and the healthcare workforce worldwide.

Ultimately, my research and analysis helped the G7 and G20 Research Groups in their efforts to hold powerful states accountable.
